Beekeeper Incursion for early learning centres

Beekeeper Incursion for OSHC/Vacation Care

Starting from $600 per session

A more scientific exploration of bees awaits you, featuring an engaging and in-depth educational talk during which we uncover some truly amazing and fascinating bee facts. Our frame of live bees will be present for an up-close visit, allowing participants to observe these remarkable creatures in action.

The children will have the unique opportunity to partake in a hands-on honey extraction demonstration, where they can pour their very own jar of delicious honey to take home as a special souvenir. Additionally, they will engage in role-playing the rewarding career of an apiarist, tasting some of our pure raw honey, and enjoying the delightful experience of eating honeycomb directly from the frame.

Native Bee Incursion

$395 - 45 Minute session (22 children)

Do you need someone to keep an eye on your stingless bee hive? We offer special monitoring services that focus on native pollination, and we believe in making it educational fun and child focused. During our Native Bee Incursion, we will check your hive to see how the bees are doing, looking out for any pests or diseases that could be affecting them.

While we take a close look inside the hive, we'll share our knowledge about bee health and their population. This way, everyone can learn how to care for the bees and ensure they thrive. It's a fantastic opportunity for children to connect with nature and understand the important role these little pollinators play. Together, we can help support your hive for years to come!

Bee Education for Primary Schools

Starting from $600 per session

Bring the buzzing world of bees to your classroom with our hands-on, exciting program! Students will slip into bee suits, observe live bees, and embark on a more in-depth and scientific journey into their essential role in our ecosystem. Through interactive activities like hive inspections and honey extraction, they’ll delve deeper into the fascinating science behind beekeeping. This experience not only sparks curiosity but also cultivates an understanding of bees' complex behaviors, their critical impact on pollination, and the processes involved in honey production, providing a comprehensive insight into the life within the hive.

This session includes a 45 minute educational talk about bees and the role of the Apiarist where we lean on and extended on the children’s pre-established knowledge of bees. Following this we move onto our hands-on stations where children will get to move their bodies throughout the resources and explore pouring their own jar of honey to take home, tasting honey, using the tools of the apiarist, trying on beekeeper suits, play ‘spot-the-queen’ and crank the honey extractor as they watch real honey pour out.

Extra-curricular: Beekeeping Club for High Schools

Want to offer an exciting and engaging beekeeping club as an extra-curricular activity at your high school? We specialize in placing hives directly on school property and providing guidance to young minds about the fascinating and intricate world of beekeeping. Our approach emphasizes collaboration and interactive learning, combining both classroom-based instruction and hands-on experience in the field. This way, students can truly understand the importance of bees and the art of beekeeping while enjoying themselves outside the traditional classroom setting.

All incursions are developed by Amber Riddell who has over 12 years experience in the early childhood sector across multiple roles, from Lead Educator to Educational Leader and Montessori Directress.

Our bee incursions are delivered within the guidelines of the early years learning frame work and the My Time Our Place and allow for each child to explore within their own supportive space.
