Teralba Park Honey offers a hands-on Beekeeper Incursion for OSHC and Vacation Care in Brisbane. Children will explore the world of honey bees and native bees through live bee observation, honey extraction, and tasting, while learning about bees' vital role in pollination and the environment.
We have a buzz-tastic array of bee-themed sessions that are perfect for everyone, young and young-at-heart! Our sessions are packed with fun and are designed to engage adults as well as children.

Beekeeper Incursion for OSHC/Vacation Care
Starting from $600+GST per session
A more scientific exploration of bees awaits you, featuring an engaging and in-depth educational talk during which we uncover some truly amazing and fascinating bee facts. Our frame of live bees will be present for an up-close visit, allowing participants to observe these remarkable creatures in action.
The children will have the unique opportunity to partake in a hands-on honey extraction demonstration, where they can pour their very own jar of delicious honey to take home as a special souvenir. Additionally, they will engage in role-playing the rewarding career of an apiarist, tasting some of our pure raw honey, and enjoying the delightful experience of eating honeycomb directly from the frame.

Educational Session (45 minutes)
Bees are incredibly intricate and fascinating insects and most of the children already know some cool bee facts. As teachers we actively build on this knowledge so each session is slightly different depending on the children’s level of knowledge and questions

We bring a frame of real live buzzing bees where you can listen to the buzz of activity and feel the humming vibrations as the bees work to turn nectar into honey right before your eyes

Honey Extraction Demonstration
Learn through experience with our honey extraction demonstration where the children get to be apart of harvesting honey

Suit Up
With suits to fit all sizes, the children embrace the beekeeper lifestyle by wearing suits and veils to truly feel what its like to be inside a hive

Pour your own jar of honey
Not only do the children get to taste our delicious honey, they get to pour their own jar to take home and share with the family (if they don’t eat it all before the day is over)

Bees Wax Candle Rolling
Want to have the full experience, add our candle activity as an additional activity to full emersed the children to life within the bee hive
All incursions are developed by Amber Riddell who has over 12 years experience in the early childhood sector across multiple roles, from Lead Educator to Educational Leader and Montessori Directress.
Our bee incursions are delivered within the guidelines of the early years learning frame work and the My Time Our Place and allow for each child to explore within their own supportive space.
Qualifications:
Certificate III in Children’s services (2012)
Diploma of Montessori Education (2016)
Certificate III in Beekeeping (2023)
