Beekeeper Incursion for Primary Schools

Starting from $600+GST per session

Bring the buzzing world of bees to your classroom with our hands-on, exciting program! Students will slip into bee suits, observe live bees, and embark on a more in-depth and scientific journey into their essential role in our ecosystem. Through interactive activities like hive inspections and honey extraction, they’ll delve deeper into the fascinating science behind beekeeping. This experience not only sparks curiosity but also cultivates an understanding of bees' complex behaviors, their critical impact on pollination, and the processes involved in honey production, providing a comprehensive insight into the life within the hive.

This session includes a 45 minute educational talk about bees and the role of the Apiarist where we lean on and extended on the children’s pre-established knowledge of bees. Following this we move onto our hands-on stations where children will get to move their bodies throughout the resources and explore pouring their own jar of honey to take home, tasting honey, using the tools of the apiarist, trying on beekeeper suits, play ‘spot-the-queen’ and crank the honey extractor as they watch real honey pour out.
