Creamed honey is one of the best things I’ve discovered since beekeeping and, whilst I’m a little embarrassed to admit, I never even knew it existed until after I became a beekeeper! What is it exactly?

Creamed honey is a variation of natural raw honey and is where, after crystalisation occurs, the honey is whipped into a smooth creamy like texture. Whipping disrupts the sugar crystals’ formation, so your honey will stay smooth and creamy.

Does it contain dairy?

Personally, I’ve been dairy-free for over half a decade and can confirm that creamed honey contains absolutely zero dairy so you can enjoy a creamy textured food completely guilt-free

How should I store it?

Storing creamed honey in the fridge is the best way to ensure that the texture remains ‘like butter’ and allows for smooth spreading over your toast, pancakes, hot cross buns…or if your like me, straight off the spoon. With this being said, once creamed honey has set, it can remain in the kitchen cupboard and will remain as a thicker liquid texture. It is important to note that because creamed honey has no added ingredients and it can return to its natural honey form if heated and regardless of its name you can’t substitute into baked goods for cream as it doesn’t hold its form during the cooking process.
